County Information - Anne Arundel County

With roots dating back to early colonists, Anne Arundel County is a community full of beautiful views and rich history. The county was named by the 1650 Maryland General Assembly after the wife of the colony leader at the time, Cecil Calvert. What started out as a small colony blossomed over many years into an industrialized, suburban living center.

No matter what season you visit, Anne Arundel County has plenty to do. Since it is known for its access to the Chesapeake Bay, water sports are very popular for residents and visitors alike. The state capital, Annapolis, is located in the county so you can take your pick of city or rural sights to see. Whether you are just passing through or taking off your coat to stay awhile, Anne Arundel County has a variety of things in & around the area to please every member of the family.
